The reading program will be taught to community volunteers by the Education Director.  Two hundred community leaders
will be sought through out all professions.  These leaders will be instrumental in the delivery of the strategic plan
provided by the director.  Each leader should be willing to commit at least 2 hours in training as well as a minimum of 2
additional hours throughout the fiscal year for the development of the youth.  This will provide Genesis a total of 400
hours of leadership commitment to the youth.

Genesis will provide two 6 week sessions in the fall and winter as well as a 4 week session throughout the summer.
Each week will consist of two sessions; and each session will last for no more than two hours.  The community
volunteers will have the option of providing all 4 hours per session or dispersing the two additional hours to another
leader. Thus a 12 hour total will be delivered by the community leaders with reinforcement of these activities performed
throughout the week.
Youths in grades 3 through 8 will be sought out from Elementary schools in District 209.  The Director of Operations will
request from teachers and principals of the selected schools a list of students who are at or below grade level that they
would recommend for the program.

A total of 50 student’s names from two elementary schools in the community will be requested where only a maximum of
40 (a minimum of six students of each grade level 3rd thru 8th grade) will be allowed to participate in the sessions.  The
final selection of students will be based upon teacher/principal recommendation as well as those students who come
from low income families.
A week prior to the sessions, community volunteers will be asked to commit a minimum of two hours training in order to
receive the appropriate information needed to distribute to the youths.  Training material will be issued for each leader
who has volunteered as well as mock sessions as to how possible interaction could occur with students.
